Farewell Sophia

Farewell Sophia

I wrote a love poem today: to my boat. This bothers me more than just a little bit. I’ve spent the last few years moving myself to a much more minimalist lifestyle (truly a “lifestyle” choice) and the thought of being attached to this hunk of fiber and metal is not what I expected. Don’t get me wrong; Sophia has been a great boat and home. And the blog and organization that inherited her name will press on. But as…

Consider a Gift – We have work to do

Consider a Gift – We have work to do

Dear Fellow Sojourners, As we approach the end of 2016 and look forward to all that 2017 has in store, I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks. Your support and encouragement have made this an unforgettable year.      I am also asking you consider offering a final gift to Sophia Sojourn for 2016.  Immediate needs include travel expenses, book inventory, upcoming renewals of web sites, etc. Any gift of any amount will help offset those costs….

A Rocking Fundraiser!!

A Rocking Fundraiser!!

All through my life, my parents have been a valuable part of my journey. That didn’t change when I began this process of affirmation. While we don’t agree on many things – from politics to theology – we are able to focus on the things we still share. Things like a love of life, compassion, and desire to grow in our passion for God and all that is God’s. We can agree without question that “All God’s Children Have a…

Sounds of a Sojourner – Indiana Skies

My first podcast! Most of the podcasts will be reading my blog posts so that you can listen instead of reading, but I’ll add other fun stuff as I can. This one is reading the post, “Under Indiana Skies“. http://sophiasojourn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Podcast-1-Indiana-Skies-82416-2.50-PM.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | Download

Under Indiana Skies

Under Indiana Skies

I’ve lived in Texas for 16 years now. That’s something I never thought would happen. There are things about Texas that I like, but so much of other places that I miss. I have been on the road for a little over week, seeing places I’ve not seen in years. The reality of what I’ve been missing has hit me like a simultaneous bolt of lightening and a gentle breeze; a jolt of reality and a deep breath. In addition…

Another 24 Alive

Another 24 Alive

The circle of “Overcomers” where I sit as often as I can has many valued traditions. One of those traditions is that on the last Saturday of every month, we honor those in our midst celebrating one or multiple years of recovery from what ever it was that was hurting/killing them. On April 12 of 2015 I sat outside a different church service in uncontrollable tears. My divorce had just been finalized that week and subject of the message that…

Welcome to Our New Home

Welcome to Our New Home

I’m nearly finished with the migration from the WordPress hosted site to our new home on our self-hosted site. There will be a bunch of advantages to this move, but in the meantime there may be some broken links and other issues. I’ve noticed this is specifically true with the links on the FaceBook page. If you’re looking for one of the links below, just click here and it will take you to the site. I’ll keep looking for the…

Upgrades

Upgrades

Sophia Sojourn is going to be experiencing some much needed upgrades in the comings days. There may be some outages. In which case you can’t read this post and it’s a moot point. But if you’re reading this now and you come back later – you may have issues. OR – in an alternate universe the upgrade will go smoothly and without a bug or a hitch and you will never know the difference. Here’s hoping.
