THIMBLE Well: Intro

Note: I mentioned in my last post that I had a series brewing about things that I wanted to begin or continue doing well in my life. I also concluded at that point (all of two days ago) that writing about those things seemed counter productive to my current state of mind and circumstances. After more reflection, I decided to give more attention to the series. There is no good or bad time to get getter at living; living is about all the time. Besides, the a main purpose of the blog is for me to be able to share my thoughts, even though I may need to be patient with myself in applying them all to my every day life! (Again, see the last post.) So here it goes…

Question: What’s small, looks like a cup, comes in leather or metal, can be plain and functional or decorative and collectable and was used in children’s literature as a symbol for a kiss? Answer: a thimble.

thimble 1

A thimble is a simple tool. It is designed to protect the user while allowing them to remain productive. Granted its usefulness had diminished since we are not a culture in the habit of darning socks or patching our britches, but it’s still a very effective symbol.

It also happens to be a word that popped out at me as I was taking notes on my mirror the other day (you could say I was reflecting on some thoughts – but that would be cheesy so let’s not say it). It became an acronym for things in my life I want to do well as I aim for a more holistic approach to caring for myself. Some of them are already happening, but can be done better. Some of them need to be happening in order for me to keep doing better. That’s the basis for this new blog series: T.H.I.M.B.L.E. Well.

In an effort to keep a balance with upcoming classes and work (prayerfully) and life, I’m really going to try and keep these posts short. I have no idea how long I’m going to take to work through all of them, but I’m just going to have some fun with it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I will.

Here is what’s ahead:

T – Think Well

H – Hope Well

I – Inquire Well

M – Move Well

B – Breath Well

L – Love well

E – Eat Well

(And in case you were wondering, it was Peter Pan.)
