There is a discussion afoot (and apparently has been for a couple of years) about what to call this community. It has been through many iterations over the years. The current attempt at inclusivity has us at LGBTQIAAP (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Ally, Pansexual). One of the suggested alternatives is GSRM (Gender, Sexual and Romantic Minorities). This revised version is an attempt to be more inclusive with fewer letters!

I’m conducting a little survey on my FB page. Please visit there and give your feedback. This isn’t just for LGBT+ people – I’d life feed back from everyone (after all, you still get to hear us talking about it!).

Click here to see and take the survey.

While you’re there, you can “like” my page 🙂

And for the record, there are other suggestions floating about. Two that I’ve seen a few places (but personally wasn’t as keen on) were MOGI (Marginalized Orientation and Gender Identities). The argument for this one is that it takes the behavioral aspect out of the community by omitting the word “sexual”. I felt the same things was accomplished in the GSRM iteration with the inclusion of the word Romantic. I also don’t think MOGI is as inclusive as GSRM.

The other one I’ve seen is QuILTBAG (I’m not kidding). I won’t event bother explaining that acronym or my objections. Just included it to give you the same giggle moment it gave me!
